I'm pretty sure that's what these grocery store tulips are. Once I saw them this morning, there was no question they were coming home with me. The color combination is one of my favorites during any season, and I've grown this princess in the Virginia garden (supplied by Old House Gardens. She's as remarkable for her color as for her fragrance. I picked up a few bundles of daffodils, too, which will make an appearance here in the next few days.
They also reminded me that I've been meaning to read Flower Confidential, Amy Stewart's account of the international cut flower trade. Amy blogs at Dirt and as part of the Garden Rant team.
(Note to self: before ordering any more books online, remember to change the default shipping address. I surprised my father -- who's living in our Virginia house -- with a box of Elizabeth Zimmerman today.)
And speaking of knitting books, Kate Jacob's book tour for The Friday Night Knitting Club (yes, that's the one that Julia Roberts has picked up for a film) has a stop just down the road this Friday night. I'll let you all know how it goes.
