One sock, two socks, sock-to-be;
And this, I think,
for Argosy.
I can't quite believe it's been two months since I posted about finishing Nine's first sock and getting the gorgeous Brooks Farm Harmony in the mail from Julie for rolling over the comment counter on her blog. Long time, not much knitting. But we took a drive over into Vermont yesterday (destination Farmway) and I got a lot done on Seven's sock en route. Still, I'm craving something more challenging that the recent run of socks.
And I have, in fact, just barely begun Argosy, working my way up the first chart. A technical question: what kind of cast-on works best to start the new blocks? The pattern says cable cast on is recommended (and I did that for the beginning) -- does that go for the new sections, too?
Warning: rodent content ahead... Look away if you're not a fan.
If the Suess-y bit before wasn't cheesy enough: the following picture, sadly, is not of Eleven luring an escaped pet mouse out of the radiator in our front hall with a piece of Seriously Sharp Vermont Cheddar on a stick. It is, in fact, varmint cheddar instead, and this mouse, cute as he (or she) may be, is (to quote E) "seriously not invited in the house." The crazy thing is, it survived being scooped out of the baseboard on the other side of the hall by the fatter and lazier of the two cats. Pepper carried the mouse around the house while I tried to get it from her -- but the cat got fed up with being tailed and -- get this -- returned to the front hall and dropped the mouse into the other baseboard, like she was putting it there for safekeeping until I was done bugging her about it. The rodent is still at large....
